Knifeman stabs several people in city centre rampage in Finland

A man reportedly went on a stabbing rampage in the city centre of Turku at around 4.30pm local time (2.30pm UK time).

Several people were stabbed in the attack on Market Square before cops shot the man in the leg and arrested him.

Police have since announced they are looking for more suspects, according to PA.

Finnish tabloid Ilta-Sanomat has reported five women and one man were injured in the attack.

Another local newspaper, Helsingin Sanomat, reports "pictures taken from the place of events show one body bag".

Video has emerged of people fleeing the scene in panic as cops rushed to place the area on lockdown.

Finnish broadcaster YLE says several people were seen lying on the ground in the city which is 105 miles west of capital Helsinki.

Security has since been increased at Helsinki airport as a result of the attack.

The incident comes just 24 hours after a double terror attack in Barcelona which left at least 14 people dead.
