BREAKING: Abducted Osun State Government officals kidnapped in Kogi State released

The Permanent Secretary of Osun State Ministry of Finance, Budget and 

Economic Planning, Mrs Adebimpe Ogunlumade, her driver, Mr. Oladapo 

Arogundade Ajani and a Director from the ministry, Mr. Tajudeen 

Badejoko who were kidnapped by gunmen Friday have been resqued 


The officials were kidnapped while returning from Abuja where they 

attended the briefing on the State and Local Government Reforms 

Project; a World Bank and European Union Programme.

 The Director of Bureau of Communication and Strategy in the Office of 

the Governor in Osogbo, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon confirmed their release 

through a statement signed by Osun State Head of Service, Mr. Sunday 

Olayinka Owoeye and made available to journalists on Sunday evening.

Okanlawon confirmed that “arrangements are now being made to convey 

them to Osogbo within the shortest possible time by security agents 

with a view to re-uniting them with their families and relations”

 Meanwhile, Osun state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, 

in a statement issued in Osogbo by its director of

media and strategy, Prince Diran Odeyemi commended the police and other 

security agencies that ensured the release of the kidnapped official 

and rejoiced with their families and Osun state government.

 The party, however, urged the state government to disclose what was 

involved in securing their release for the purpose of accountability 

and transparency.

 The PDP said "Though no price will be too much to pay for the safety 

of the kidnapped officials but we still believe that the state 

government should let the public know if ransom were paid and how 

much, if vital financial document were missing or not".

 "We also commend Osun and Kogi state journalists for their efforts and 

professionalism which in no way must have assisted in effecting the 

release of the officials", Odeyemi said.
