THE moment a completely naked man bursts into the most famous church in the world is captured in bizarre video.
Luis Carlos Giampaoli strode into St Peter's Basilica, in the Vatican City – one of the holiest Catholic shrines in the world – wearing only a backpack and shoes.
The 44-year-old nurse began marching up and down, gesticulating and shouting at bemused onlookers in the packed cathedral.
Giampaoli – who calls himself "Cherubino" on his Facebook profile – is being guarded in a psychiatric ward, with sources describing him as "deranged".

SMILE: Giampaoli outside the church the day before
Cherubino – an Italian of Brazilian origin – was in the Vatican City, within Rome, for a few days.
Photographs on Facebook show him posing in front of the St Peter's Basilica – where St Peter himself is meant to be buried – on Sunday.
The next day, Cherubino entered the holy site regularly dressed and with a backpack.
He hid in a corner and stripped – hiding his clothes in the backpack – before stomping out in his birthday suit.

POPE: And dress as a cardinal
He is believed to have walked up the main nave of the Basilica to the high alter – where the Pope usually delivers his sermons – before being swamped by security guards.
Other photographs on his colourful Facebook profile show Cherubino dressed as a Catholic cardinal in a mask.
